Hello,

I need to find either a ribbon cable or an adaptor that allows me to connect a 50-pin internal (IDE) CD-ROM drive to the motherboard that has a 40-pin connector. I have found either 40-pin to 40-pin ribbon cables or the 50pin-50pin cables but have not been able to find a 40pin-50pin (female-female) ribbon cable or some kind of an adaptor or converter that will do the same. Appreciate any help you can provide me. Thanks.

PacificCable.com does not sell any adaptors of this sort. As far as we know there is not a reliable way of doing this.

I have a ribbon cable cable that has a 15 connector end from a Dell PC.  I installed a new mother board that has a different pin configuration.  The old cable went to the HDD LED, Power-on, Reset, etc.  Do you have a two wire connector that I can plug into the ribbon cable at one end and the opther end to slide over the pins on the new mother board?

Thx

Does your old cable currently plug into the new motherboard? Are you wanting an adapter to plug on to the old cable to alter the pinout?

The cable does plug in, however, the pin alignment does not agree with the pins on the motherboard.  different pin positions

I would like an adapter to plug on the old cable to alter the pinout on the new mother board.  However, I do not know the configuration on the old cable such as HDD LED, Power, Reset, etc.  It's a Dell Dimenison XPS T600r

Thanks

If we had a pinout we might be able to make a custom adapter (This might be less than ideal for your application though). It sounds like you will either need to purchase an adapter or adapter cable from dell or the motherboard manufacturer. If you can get a pinout you can email it plus your request to sales@pacificcable.com and we could see if we can make it based on that information.
